We began our potty-training journey past summer, and up until now, we’ve been lucky—right until this morning when a little voice from the back seat said, “Mami, I need to pee.” Thankfully, we were just one corner away from daycare, and he’s been surprisingly good at listening to his body, so we made it just in time. But that close call made me realize it probably wouldn’t be the last!

Potty training is an exciting milestone, but it comes with plenty of challenges—especially when you’re on the go. Whether you’re running errands or taking a road trip, being prepared can make a huge difference. So, I’ve put together the ultimate potty-training car kit to help make those “uh-oh” moments a little easier. Here’s what you need to stay ready for anything.

1- Two Portable Potty Seat

Yes, two. One portable potty seat that’s easy to set up in the car, and a second oneone that fits your diaper bag or purse—to use in a public bathroom. Look for those that are compact and easy to clean. Some even come with disposable liners for extra convenience.

2-Disposable Potty Liners

Make cleanup quick and easy. Just tie up and toss when done.

3-Toilet Seat Cover Disposable

Sometimes public bathrooms are… Well,  you all now.

4-Wet Wipes & Hand Sanitizer

Wipes are non-negotiable, from wiping hands to handling unexpected messes. Hand sanitizer is great to have on hand for quick cleaning.Toilet 5-Paper or Tissues

Because not every pit stop has everything you need. A small roll of toilet paper or a pack of tissues will cover you in those moments.

6-Change of Clothes

Accidents happen! Keep at least two changes of clothes for your child in a ziplock bag or travel cube. Include socks and underwear, too—sometimes, everything needs a swap!

7-Plastic Bags for Dirty Clothes

Have a stash of plastic bags or wet bags for soiled clothes. These are great for keeping everything clean and odor-free in the car until you get home.

Tips for Keeping Your Potty Kit Organized

  1. Use clear toiletry bags or travel cubes so you can see everything at a glance.
  2. Keep it accessible! Place your kit in the trunk or within reach if possible, especially during those early potty-training days. This car caddy is perfect for that!
  3. Restock and refresh your kit regularly to make sure it’s always ready for the next outing.

A well-stocked potty-training car kit can make all the difference in staying prepared for life’s little “uh-oh” moments.

I hope this post comes in handy if you’re in—or about to dive into—this phase. And if you make it through, share your tips in the comments below!
